I've been blessed (and perhaps cursed) with boundless curiosity and a need to understand how the world works. This lead me into a career in journalism, which allowed me to discover and explore issues as varied as Chicago politics and the mysteries of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in New Mexico. As an editor, my publications have won national honors and as a writer, I've freelanced for outlets such as Mississippi Magazine and Humanities. I'm also a full-time academic. My research investigates the intersections between journalism and children's literature.
